Ameris Bank supports SGMC with a contribution of $50,000

VALDOSTA Ga. (WALB) — Recently, Ameris Bank contributed $25,000 each to the Berrien and Lanier campuses of South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) through the Georgia HEART hospital program.

“We are grateful for the generosity of community partners like Ameris Bank who enable SGMC to continue to provide access to innovative, quality health care for thousands of Georgians who live in rural South Georgia,” said Hilary Gibbs, vice president and chief development officer of SGMC. .

Past contributions to the GA HEART hospital program enabled SGMC’s Lanier campus to construct a new ambulatory bay and EMS entrance to the emergency room providing weather protection for patients transported to the Lanier emergency department by ambulance.

SGMC’s Berrien campus says it looks forward to starting construction on its new emergency department and hospital expansion in the very near future. Both of these projects are made possible through donations from the Georgia Heart Tax Credit.

The Georgia HEART Hospital Program offers organizations and individual taxpayers the opportunity to donate to SGMC’s rural campuses and receive a 100% tax credit from the state.
