Montgomery Co. offers preview of new firearms training facility
CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee (WTVF) – This was a preview of Montgomery County law enforcement training.
“Today we’re really showing the public what’s going on here that way they know the things they can see or hear, especially the neighbors,” the County Sheriff said. Montgomery, John Fuson.
The County Sheriff’s Office welcomed the public to their brand new gun training center for an open house.
“It has always been my goal since becoming sheriff to do more than the minimum and this facility will allow us to do that easily,” said Fuson.
The recently completed $ 3.6 million facility houses both a 50-meter shooting range and a 100-meter shooting range, as well as a classroom for less lethal activities like briefings on security.
“This property here we are on belonged to a former Montgomery County Sheriff, Billy Smith,” Fuson said. “We are going to dedicate this property and this project to him for his service.” Among the guests at the open house were Smith’s family.
“Our world is changing, our tactics have to adapt and change with them, and you have to have the facilities and the resources to be able to accomplish that and that is exactly what we have here,” Fuson said.
The facility spans over 300 acres which will be used by several local agencies. Sheriff Fuson said the opening of the gun training center is only the first phase of future construction on the property.
“I think this is well overdue for our region, not just our county but our region, and I know without a doubt that this will take us to the next level in terms of preparing the men and women who are to serve in the field. public safety in this county and this region, ”he said.
