Suspect died after several shots were fired at Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies near Panther Creek

THE WOODLANDS, TX – On Sunday, October 31, 2021, at approximately 2:50 a.m., deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting call at a Red Cedar Circle residence in The Woodlands, Texas. En route, MPs learned that a man was reportedly shot dead in an altercation, and the suspect left the scene in a vehicle. MPs located the suspect’s car on S Panther Creek Drive, where a chase ensued.

The suspect stopped and intentionally backed up his car, striking the front of an MCSO patrol unit, rendering the deputy’s car unusable. The suspect fled in his vehicle to the Forest View Apartments located at 4545 S Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands, where he is believed to be living.

As the deputies approached the suspect’s apartment, the suspect came out and fired several shots at the deputies. The deputies returned the shots and the suspect re-entered the apartment. No MPs were injured in the shooting, and it is not known whether the suspect was injured in the firefight.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and CNT arrived at the scene and attempted to contact the suspect. After many unsuccessful attempts, the sheriff’s office deployed technological means and confirmed that the suspect died in his apartment.

The investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances of the suspect’s death. The suspect’s name will not be released until the next of kin have been notified.

The man who was shot dead at the original residence has been taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and we hope for a speedy recovery.
