The Omaha National Weather Service released a

* Tornado warning for…

Eastern Montgomery County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 5:15 p.m. CDT.

* At 445 a.m. CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado

was located above Stanton, 19 miles west of Corning, moving

northeast at 55 mph.

DANGER…Tornado and quarter-sized hail.

SOURCE… Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT… Flying debris will be hazardous to those caught without

shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.

Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree

damage is likely.

* This tornado thunderstorm will remain over mostly rural areas of

eastern Montgomery County, including the following locations…

Grant and Viking Lake State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES/PREPARATION…

COVER NOW! Move to a basement or interior room on the lowest level

floor of a solid building. Avoid windows. If you are outside, in a

mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the nearest substantial shelter

and protect yourself from flying debris.
